#Project250 – Board Statement

Statement from the Railwaymen Supporters Society Board

Firstly, we’d like to put on record how overwhelmed we have all been with the response to #Project250 and our goal to purchase shares from Norman Hassall. Over the past few months we have witnessed fans from far and wide come together and get behind a cause that will only benefit the football club and the fans for the future.

Friday the 31st of January saw us hit our target deadline to raise the £250,000 that we needed. The last few months have been good but the reaction that we have seen since Christmas has been nothing but outstanding. This hit new levels of activity and interaction last night that has given us a real chance of making #Project250 become a reality.

Now at the peak of all this excitement, we need to ask the fans for some patience whilst all of the memberships and donations are counted, verified and cleared into the bank. I’m sure you can understand that we want the next figure we provide to you publicly, to be the right one. This may take us a few days now until we can confirm this and allow payments to clear.

There is a board meeting scheduled for Wednesday 5th February where we will look to give the next official statement.

In the mean time, if you did still want to be involved, please still do. We are hopeful of hitting our target but until we have confirmation, we do not want to take any chances. Some people have asked what will happen to money if we go over the target, the answer is simple, it will be put back into the club and community doing things that you, as members will have a say in going forwards.
